Cooking for Crowds - A Volunteer's Guide to Safe Food Handling

Nonprofit food fund-raisers are an excellent way to socialize with the community while earing money for organizational activities. How will your orgnaization protect its customers from foodborne illness? Does your organization know the food safety risks that result from cooking large volumes of food? Does your organization now how to prevent the food safety risks that result from cooking large volumes of food?

Attend this "Cooking for Crowds" workshop and learn what causes foodborne illness, how to prevent foodborne illness, and how to start practicing good food safety strategies for your next food fund-raiser. Print out the brochure/registration and mail to our office.

Food Safety Training - Certification or Recertification

  • Receive the latest updates to the PA Food Code and PA Food Employee Certification Act
  • Participants will learn the 7 elements of food handling safety.
  • Certification students prepare with 8 hours of home study and 8 hours of classroom teaching, followed by the National Restaurant Association ServSafe examination.
  • Recertification students receive the 7.5 hours of refresher training required in qualify for recertification.

Two opportunities to receive training:

Stroudsburg PA: October 22, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and October 29, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

or

Hawley PA: November 2, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm and November 9, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

TAP Series Food Safety Training

Certification/Recertification eLearning Program

Designed for food service managers, chefs, caterers, cooks,

health officials and inspectors.

  • Provides a self-paced learning experience from home or work.
  • Interactive learning using CD Rom and the Internet.
  • Practice exam to prepare for the proctored Certification exam at the Monroe County Extension office.
  • Fulfills the PDA Food Exmployee Certification Requirement of 15 hours of instruction and the Recertification requirement using the 8-hour format.
  • Available in English or Spanish.

4-H is a youth development program open to all youth agest 5 to 18 with over 150 projects to choose from.
